Radio cell measurement by RaMoNA 48
Existing network is expanded thanks to six WWAN module cards for CompactPCI® Serial systems
In collaboration with the Landeskriminalamt (State Criminal Police Office), EKF has developed a system carrier for the openRISE project. The aim of the project is to establish an EU-wide open standard for radio cell information systems.
This system directly addresses the acute needs of the police in the area of mobile communications surveillance.
Radio cell measurement provides an alternative localization option. Existing localization systems, such as local position markers or GNSS data from mobile devices, suffer from limited availability. As a result, they fail to deliver accurate results. Existing mobile connections significantly improve wave propagation accuracy. RaMoNA 48, the system that EKF manufactures, performs the required radio cell measurement.
Radio cell propagation has specific characteristics that affect performance. Because providers continuously make unannounced infrastructure changes, the system must undergo cyclical remapping.
In order to meet the requirements of the project, a system is needed that includes specially developed peripheral cards and a customized housing that is suitable for use in vehicles.
To meet the requirements of the project, the system includes specially developed peripheral cards and a customized housing that is suitable for use in vehicles. To cover the large number of networks in parallel, the system connects up to 40 mobile radio modules to an integrated control PC. Highly specialized software on this PC reliably evaluates and secures the results.
