The SL6-COMBO is a 10-port Gigabit Ethernet switch on a peripheral slot card for CompactPCI® Serial systems. The on-board MaxLinear MxL86282I device is a highly integrated, low power, non-blocking multi-port Ethernet switch with two 10G Ethernet SerDes interfaces and eight Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE) BASE-T PHYs which support the data rates 2500, 1000, 100, and 10 Mbps. The layer 2 switch features the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE).

Four 2.5GBASE-T ports are wired to associated RJ45 front panel jacks. In addition, a 10GbE SFP+ cage is provided as uplink. Another four 2.5GbE ports are optionally available for backplane communication via the CompactPCI® Serial connector P6. The SL6-COMBO is equipped with an Intel® E610 10Gigabit Ethernet controller (NIC) in addition, which is internally connected to the switch. For full performance a PCIe® x4 enabled backplane slot would be required.
